Who is the Chief of Space Operations?

Being the Chief of Space Operations means serving as the top officer of the U.S. Space Force, guiding the service’s strategy, operations, and resources. This four-star general leads the Space Force, sets priorities for missions and personnel, and represents the service within the Department of Defense and with national leaders, reporting to the Secretary of the Air Force and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The person currently holding this role is General B. Chance Saltzman, who took over as the Space Force’s senior leader in recent years. The other names are associated with different positions: General David W. Allvin is the Air Force Chief of Staff, Brigadier General Gavin P. Marks is a flag officer not serving as CSO, and Major Monica Mason is not the Space Force’s Chief of Space Operations.
